Revision is essential to embed key knowledge in out long-term memories.
One key method we teach at Orchard for revision is the use of Flashcards:
Flashcards should always be double-sided. Good practice is to have a question/topic on one side and an answer/key knowledge on the other:
If you have a pack of flashcards, when you get one right place it at the back of the pack. If you get one wrong, it should go towards the front of the pack. This helps you revise the facts and knowledge you need to more frequently.
A second key method we teach is mindmaps:
This is a Science example.
Best written from memory, a mindmap links ideas together. It helps build connections in our brains between knowledge which makes it easier to remember this knowledge.
Finally we can use past papers. These are great if we complete them in exam conditions, then mark them. From marking we can identify what our less strong topics are and focus our revision on them.
