Orchard School Bristol

Clubs and Enrichment

At Orchard School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom.  Our extensive enrichment programme provides students with opportunities to develop new skills, discover hidden talents, build confidence and form lasting friendships.   We are proud that our enrichment offer now aligns with the Government's five key strands of enrichment: sport and physical activity, creativity and the arts, volunteering and social action, educational and academic development, and skills for life and work.  Through a diverse range of clubs, activities leadership opportunities, and community projects, every students has the chance to find something that inspires them.

As an example, we have launched our enrichment programme by introducing British Sign Language (BSL) sessions, giving students the opportunity to learn valuable communication skills, increase their understanding of inclusion and accessibility, and develop greater awareness of the deaf community.  BSL is just one example of how we are expanding enrichment offer to prepare students for life beyond school while promoting our values of respect, kindness and belonging.

We encourage all students to take part in enrichment activities and make the most of the exciting opportunities available throughout the year.

We are always looking to start new clubs and always try to respond to ensure our offer is rich and diverse.

Enrichment Programme

Our enrichment programme runs each term during tutor time and offers students a diverse menu of activities to choose from. Whether it’s creative arts, STEM challenges, mindfulness, or leadership development, there’s something for everyone.

We also encourage students to take part in our extensive extra-curricular clubs, which include sports, performance, and other exciting opportunities. Through these activities, students develop key life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership—preparing them for success in future workplaces and beyond.

 After-School Sports

Throughout the year we offer a wide variety of sporting opportunities - both competitive and recreational. Orchard School is proud to be part of the Bristol Schools competitive leagues, participating in traditional team sports, emerging games, and regional festivals.

Sessions are held across our spacious school site, equipped with modern facilities and led by expert staff. Our clubs are inclusive and welcoming, whether students are trying something new or honing existing skills.  Physical activity is a key part of our wellbeing strategy, helping students grow socially and emotionally.

Competitive fixtures are played both at home and away, and we regularly host events for the North Bristol region.  These occasions give students the chance to organise, lead and officiate - building confidence and responsibility.

We also maintain strong links with local sports clubs in our community and actively encourage students to get involved beyond school.  Many of our students have gone on to compete at county and national levels, and we're proud to support their journeys.
